Italian Empoli moulded glass decorative bottle/decanter in amber, in the shape of a sitting dachshund.
Made in Empoli glass factory in the 60's. Italian red wine (including Barsottini) was sold in these types of bottles.

Important note: Since this is a vintage item please expect some small imperfections throughout such as light surface scratches. The entire bottle has a forward lean because of it's shape and the bottle wobbles a little on a flat surface It is in no immediate danger of falling over on it's own, but we recommend adding some pads to the base or filling the bottle with something heavy to keep it stable. It is missing the original rubber seal for the cat head stopper, and although it is no longer airtight it still looks good and works fine as a decorative bottle. We have cleaned and inspected this piece and found not major damages or defects. Overall this is a very good looking feline that displays well from all angles.

History of Empoli: is known for being a glass city, just a few kilometers from Florence, the city of the Renaissance. Its history begins in the modern age, with the revolution in wine storage and transport: wooden or terracotta containers were replaced by glass bottles and carboys.
The widespread use of glass containers – more hygienic, lighter and easily transportable – was made possible by the improvement of glass melting techniques in the most important centers of Val d'Elsa: it is in Montaione, Gambassi and Empoli that most of the workshops of master glassmakers are found, many of them highly sought after by the Court of the Grand Duke of Florence.
